Thank you Elle Decoration Belgium for featuring our Obumex Signature kitchen in your September issue.
Tasked with designing a custom kitchen for Obumex, Nicolas Schuybroek started by rethinking the typology of the island, ditching standard cabinets in favour of stacked sculptural elements with proportions based on the golden ratio and cladding them in tin. While an unconventional choice for a kitchen, tin sits well with the Belgian architect’s preference for unassuming and textured raw materials used without straining for effect. The tin softens and brings tactility to the austere geometry of the Signature kitchen and will also over time develop its own imperfect patina.
